BEATUS FACUNDUS
Summary:
Fedrigoni Stucco Pergaminata
National Library of Spain
Description:
The Beatus are huge manuscripts illustrating the Apocalypse. They consist of fully illustrated, biblical genealogies with a short preface designed to make the Bible much more understandable, two prologues and an important interpretation with comments and explanations on the message of the Apocalypse. This is undoubtedly the best preserved of all the Beatus. The large number of brightly coloured illuminations, with predominant shades of ruby red, sapphire blue and 22-karat gold fills makes this manuscript one of the most beautiful of its kind.
